I'd like the "To do block" to show All items, and to whom they have been assigned. At the moment it shows items that have only been assigned to me, so I don't know the status of other items.

Can't you use a view for that purpose? You could include exactly the type of To Do item that you need.

Good point, I expect so, but nothing like having it available out of the box!
