INSTALL.TXT mentions you can use the TinyMCE Compressor:

6. To boost the performance of TinyMCE, download the "TinyMCE compressor" from:

     http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/download.php

   Place the tiny_mce_gzip.php file in

     modules/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce</code
But when I place the file in place, a Javascript error pops up: <code>"tinyMCE.getEditorId() does not exists"

(or something like that...)
I don't know if this is a tinyMCE.module issue rather than a TinyMCE issue.

If I understand correctly the INSTALL.TXT file fails to mention that you should copy the tiny_mce_gzip.js file to the same directory. It should work after that.

Title: TinyMCE Compressor does not work... » TinyMCE Compressor 1.0.9 does not work...

Ooops, too fast ... you're probably using compressor version 1.0.9 (like I did) or newer - this version seems to have other issues with the Drupal module (see http://drupal.org/node/91893).

Suggestion: downgrade to the compressor 1.0.8, this should work. It doesn't have the extra .js file to copy, so the INSTALL.TXT is right for older versions of the compressor.

I have posted a patch for the compressor 1.0.9 to http://drupal.org/node/91893. The compressor works for me with this patch applied.

I believe these two bug reports are identical. Maybe you can check if the patch solves the original problem. If so I will mark this bug as a duplicate.
