I'd like to integrate the Drupal Queue API with Pathauto 6.x-2.x and XML sitemap 6.x-2.x, but there's a big stopper for me with #873978: Why not use hook_cron()?. I know there haven't been a lot of issues, but if it would make it easier I'd like to help co-maintain the module and keep it updated with back-ports from Drupal 7. If you don't need or want the help, that's perfectly OK, but I'd love to be able to help.

Note, this also serves as an official inquiry of maintainership.

Dave - I have just added you to the list of maintainers, welcome to Drupal Queue :-)

Sorry for my slow response, vacation and DrupalCon were just too big of a distraction the last couple of weeks. I'd love to touch base and discuss goals for drupal queue over IRC as soon as possible. Grab me when you have a free minute.

Yeah I figured the Con was keeping you busy. :)

Basically my goals would be to lower the barrier by actually doing processing in hook_cron() by default, and just to ensure it stays backported with any D7 changes.

That sounds great.
