This might be basic Drupal 101 and I just don't know it, but I'm using the Zen theme and I have an issue I'm trying to solve. My basic site layout is 2 columns (with the sub-navigation menu on the right) but I have one page on the site where I need to have a single wider column that does not have the sidebar column at all. I think that if I properly filter all my blocks I can make it so no content appears in the sidebar area, but will the central column automatically expand to the full width, or would I simply have the same width column just with blank space around it?

But I'd prefer, if possible, not to have to edit all my block filters to exclude that page, but rather to create a separate page layout which simply doesn't have the sidebar divs at all. If I did such a thing, how would I tell a specific page that I wanted it to use that template rather than the main template? (I know all this can be done with PHP programming in the tpl file, I'm just hoping there is a way built into Drupal itself.)

Thank you.

OK, so I don't know if this is the preferred way or not, but I did find that you can create a second template file named page-node-[node id].tpl.php and Drupal will automatically load that page when it displays the corresponding content page. So I just did that and deleted the two sidebars and it looks exactly how I want it.

Yup, that works.

An alternative way is with pure CSS, using the body class (.no-sidebars when there aren't any blocks in any of the sidebar regions).
