When the user first gets to the login page, the username and password fields are not open. Instead, they have to click the "Login" button first and then get the error messages "

* Username or e-mail address field is required.
* Password field is required.

"

This doesn't seem right.

The image below is how the login page first appears.

Title: Keep Username and Password Fields Open by Default » Standard Login block collapses - Need to fix CSS

This might be more descriptive.

The login block cannot be collapsed... This is some kind of css hack that is causing it.

Hmm. There's the same behaviour on me test website. I tried to fix it but with no luck -(

I'll fix it in a few days.

so, what is with this question? has anyone fixed it? it's a good module but i must deactivate it because of this bug - i don't see from where problem come - <div id="edit-pass-wrapper" class="form-item" style="display: none;">
this "display: none" comes from some hook, not from css.
