Many hosts don't allow executables to be called from PHP. Therefore, it would be very useful if zipping could also be done in PHP.

You could try using the Media Mover Custom Command module and add in you're own php zip code. There's all kinds of php zip scripts you can grab.

It could be possible to do this with the php module as well- if somebody want's to write it, I'll gladly merge it with the existing module.
