Hello, with all of the accessibility enhancements that have gone into Drupal core, I am asking for theme maintainers to sign up for the #D7AX pledge. We are asking for theme maintainers to pledge to make their themes as accessible as it can be. We're not asking that you guarantee that your theme is 100% accessible, however this pledge will assure folks that maintainers are aware of the importance of accessibility and if individuals submit an accessibility issue it will be taken seriously.

To ask more about accessibility within the Drupal context, please feel free to join http://groups.drupal.org/accessibility and post your questions or concerns. Themes which have signed up can be found automatically, but are also available here. By simply adding #D7AX to your description page of your theme we can keep track of your support for this initiative.

Any theme's we produce (including this one) will be built for accessibility. 508 compliance is a serious issue to higher education and we're currently auditing our courses at the moment, this theme going under the knife soon enough. I only port them to Drupal but I'm sure we'd be on board with an accessibility pledge. Once we make the current version more accessible through our audit we'll go ahead and post the commitment. Issues submitted about it will definitely be taken seriously though.

That's great to hear, thanks!

Glad to hear you're already up to speed with Section 508. Hopefully when the updated version gets solidified it will be much closer to the international WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

Update: Our theme developer is currently working 508 compliance into some of our themes and will be back-porting those findings to Chamfer. Hopefully a screen-reader friendly version of Chamfer will be out for next week

That's nice to hear! If you've got a demo up when it's done I can see if we can point some screen-reader users to test it too.

This is based on Omega which is involved in the pledge so this should be taken care of. Accessibility is of the utmost priority so if there is an issue it will be addressed.
