I love the Buy now feature for ecommerce module but how can one update / or remove items from the order review on the checkout page?

Soren Jones commented[As you said] buy now goes straight to the /checkout page. It would seem that users shouldn't be able to change the contents of their order on that page. It could be said that defeats the purpose of a buy now link as it would duplicate the functionality of /cart/view.
Would using cart instead of buy now
and theming the "Add to cart" link to say "Checkout now"work in your use case?Or adding a link that says "Checkout now" that takes users to their cart? There is actually a link to /checkout in the cart block. And with the cart enabled there is a "change" link next to every item on the /checkout page that takes users to /view/cart where they can adjust their orders.Comment #2
netentropy commentedSoren,
It does not defeat the purpose at all. A cart lends itself to continued shopping, where as a buy now is does not.
Buy Now is more impulsive and cuts out steps which statistically increases conversions (less steps = less chance to change mind)
At the same time , you want consumers to be able to "buy more" if at all possible.
Take a look at the perfect example, www.groupon.com, they sell things very quickly on this site,
very quick proces, buy now checkout but with the option to upgrade the quantity
impulse buying sites are becoming more and more common.
In our solution, I would ask, "well can i add checkout to the cart page" the whole idea is to reduce these steps to one step.

Soren Jones commentedI see that opinions vary, but IMHO that's the purpose of buy now: for the user to buy the thing she or he just clicked on right now.
Actually, I don't. I guess we all have different use cases.
I hope someone looking at a similar use case can help you.
Cheers.

netentropy commentedwe all do have different cases which is why i asked how it might be done, not that it should be core
Comment #5
Soren Jones commentedOK. I see. I can't help you.
Soren Jones commentedActually, there's no reason a feature like that couldn't be "core".
PayPal offers the same thing.
As we agreed, we all have different needs.
You might want to make a feature request for an optional quantity adjustment pane on /checkout or something like that.

gordon commentedThanks for this, I was looking at it and yes this would be great, I have implemented it and it was a lot simpler than I expected.
I am really happy with the new cart.
See http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=464034 for the commit.
This will be in 4.1
Comment #8
gordon commentedBTW. When you update the amounts in the checkout it will not update the cart.

netentropy commentedGordan thanks, I will try it out and see if I can fix the price part
