Since other modules also leverage votingapi for storing data, it may be a good idea to namespace plus1 votes. The attached patch shows this using the namespace 'vote'. The namespace string could be configurable via settings form.

Sorry, the attached patch uses 'plus1' as the the namespace instead of 'vote' like I stated above.

Thanks for this patch - and confirmation of my concerns (see #1010890: Change votingapi tag).

I'd like to see this patch extended with a setting and an update to convert existing votes. Please post it in the other issue.
