For sites which depend on revisions to keep track of user edits, such as wikis. The lack of revisions from this module can cause severe security issues.

Thats true

I strongly believe this whole module should be somehow closer to the core and or cck, where this would be easier to fix. The whole field/security thing with this module is too broad brush.

Adding revision support should however be possible. I will take a look, but probably not in the near term
