http://drupal.org/node/575836 has a comment asking why there is no access for panels to the demo user login. The text seems to indicate you can try out panels at the site: http://panels.demo.logrus.com/ when you login with user: demo and pw: demo

Wasn't sure how to answer so i could roll the comment off the page.

Ahh, all that was missing was the panels dashboard permission. Most of the work is done in page manager, really. I added that permission tot he demo user.
