I know this may seem very very basic but I don't have an option to add photo to the body of the story or blog posting. I am given the option to add an attachment but that photo does not show up in the actually body of the page.

You are right, this is indeed VERY basic. Download a WYSIWYG editor (An editor that supports images to be added quickly, etc.) from http://drupal.org/project/wysiwyg . Install that and download an editor (I suggest TinyMCE), and it will function instead of the basic text editor (plain text). You can watch a video tutorial on how to install this editor at http://blip.tv/play/AarsBIqKWw (it is a little bit old though, but helpful).

This issue is being closed because it is against a branch for a version of Drupal that is no longer supported.
If you feel that this issue is still valid, feel free to re-open and update it (and any possible patch) to work with the 7.x-4.x branch.
