merlinofchaos commentedAre you using ctools -dev version? This is a bug that should be fixed in -dev.
Also, Page Manager is in CTools, not Panels. =)
socialnicheguru commentedYes I just updated today oct 8 for both panels and ctools. I was not quite sure where the functionality lies. Thanks for letting me know it is page manager.

merlinofchaos commentedOh hm. When I try this on mine, I do get the trail does not exist, but it looks like the variant does enable/disable. It just seems to be going to the wrong place afterward. Can you doublecheck that?
socialnicheguru commentedI hit enable for user page template
it remained greyed out
went to user page
and it was overwritten
Comment #5
merlinofchaos commentedOk, #4 and #1 don't even sound like the same enable link. Of course, since you neglected to say which one you actually click, in either, I can only be confused. The problem with "The operation trail does not exist" is now fixed in CVS, though.
socialnicheguru commentedIt is fixed. I used both enable links (#4)
