I installed admin_menu, then moved Create Content to the admin menu under Content Management (since admin menu no longer does that automatically - ugh). All was correct after I saved the menu. In order to get the admin menu to display the changes, I flushed the cache. That caused Create Content to get moved out from under Content Management. It also moved some of the Template links out from under their respective content types, so the Content Types menu has the types listed followed by a bunch of Template links. This is really FUBAR, hence the critical priority.

vm commentedI think this is related to core menu bug/s noted on the admin_menu project page which sun is asking for help with.
seanrThat explains the misplaced template links, but not the Create Content link, right? Not sure I'm totally getting what's going on over there (my understanding of the menu system is obviously far less than Sun's, and even he's having trouble. ;-)
vm commentedcreate content link is a different issue altogether and sun has been working on that. Matter of fact I believe a patch was supplied and rolled into 3.x yesterday or the day before. see: #502500: Re-add Create content
Comment #4
sunThis should not happen with alpha3. I can only guess this report is about alpha2, because alpha3 adds a "Create content" menu now.
seanrAh yes, that's correct - looks like you just released alpha 3 (the site's available updates page still claimed that alpha 2 was up to date yesterday afternoon).
seanrStill does even after a manual check now, BTW. Something's wrong with the update system.

sunThanks for taking the time to report this issue.
However, marking as duplicate of #538714: Some menu items disappeared after upgrade to 6.x-3.0-alpha2.
