I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm attempting to log in using an OpenID, and most times, I get an error telling me that it's not a valid ID, or it appears to take but sends me back to the home page with blank fields in the login block. I get the error using Yahoo and I return to the home page with blank fields in the login using Myspace. I've checked to ensure that I'm entering the OpenID properly (depending on whether I use the Yahoo or Myspace credentials), but I haven't been able to log in successfully using OpenID. Am I doing something wrong? I could use some help with this.

Do you have your drupal user created already?
If yes, you have to register the OpenId with that user. It is very simple.
Go to your profile and add the OpenId. So, when you next time try with OpenId, you could log in.

I tried that. It still does the same thing.

Don't know if you'd know, but does OpenID depend on the .htaccess file in any way?

I failed to mention when I created this issue is that I tried to enter the OpenID's in the profile, but for some reason, they are not taking (being saved). That's why I asked if OpenID needs the .htaccess file to work properly.

Ahh.... nop.
When I tried the OpenId for the very first time, I did the same thing as I explained.
Can you please post all the steps you gone through?

Regards.

Okay, I went to Verisign and created an account. I then entered their info in the profile field for OpenID accounts. That "took" (was saved) in the profile whereas I wasn't able to save the yahoo or myspace OpenID's for the same username, before. I took that as a positive step, but you know, I'm not still not able to log in with the Verisign account, either. It still puts me right back at the home page with blank fields in the login box.

That's pretty much the steps that I took: 1) attempted to save the OpenID account info in the OpenID field in the profile. 2) attempted to login with the OpenID username. 3) Wound up back at the home page with blank fields in the login box and not signed in.

From what you've told me, it sounds like the OpenID info must be entered in the OpenID section of the profile. (A first time user would need to create a regular account, first, before they could do this. IOW, they wouldn't be able to login a first time with just an OpenID. Is that correct?)

If the .htaccess file is not used, then I wonder what's happening? I will attempt it again. It was very late last night, and I was half asleep when I was attempting to get this to work (one more time). :(

Okay. I'll take a demo my self and will post here about it.

I'll stay tuned to find out if you discover anything with your demo, and I do appreciate the help. However, if you can't reproduce the problem, that's okay, too.

When I opened this issue, I thought that the OpenID was part of the theme, and that's why I posted the issue, here. Later, I discovered that OpenID is one of the core modules (duh, me). I disabled the OpenID module and then downloaded and installed the Facebook - Auth module. It works fine, and if people can sign on with their Facebook account, then that works for me. (I figure that the majority of the clientèle that comes to my site will probably have a Facebook account, anyway.)

Anyway, if you figure it out, I'll gladly reactivate my OpenID since that would be an additional means for people to sign in to my site.

Thanks for all the help.

Regards,
