Does this module subsume File Server? I cannot see a way to browse by taxonomy, but, according to this module's description, “full support is provided for uploading new files (thereby creating file nodes) and managing tagging”... How does “managing tagging” work?

Dev version of the module implements a taxonomy terms (folders) creation from the dav.

Good news. I have downloaded the module from CVS (cvs -z6 -d:pserver:anonymous:anonymous@cvs.drupal.org:/cvs/drupal-contrib checkout -r HEAD -d filerelationsserver contributions/modules/filerelationsserver), but I don't see any way to browse by taxonomy yet.

Never midn, I hadn't installed OG Vocabularies. So, taxonomy browsing works only for vocabularies associated to groups, doesn't it?

Correct, only og_vocabs can be browsed at "Files by group " folder.
