Hi,

first of all, I'd like to say I really love this theme. However there's one thing I want to change. E.g. on a user's profile, when you press edit, there is a submenu for all profile categories. This submenu is tabbed and has a dark background. I really like this dark colored submenu.

I was wondering if there was any way to change the default dropdown menu on the top menu to such a tabbed submenu as well?

Short answer is: You can, but it's not a readily available setting. It would just be a matter of swapping out some background images and colors.
