I'm using the Fivestar CCK field and I'm wondering if it is possible to be able to vote without editing the node. I want the user to be able to rate the node just like when using the regular Fivestar widget, but my node requires multi-axis so I have to use the CCK field instead.

Is this possible?

No this currently isn't possible, but it's the emphasis of the 2.x version that is in development.
