Hi,
I'd like to ask about duplicate, fork and derivative works ethics. I am a themer.
When I knew drupal, it was garland I played around first. Then down the road I knew zen.
I created a theme based on garland as layout and design patron. Basically I didn't changed a lot, just adding two more sidebars (now 4), sidebar width choices, moving primary links to header region, secondary to where the breadcrumb is, adding more space to header, adding selectable header image support, a few other color choices, yet most of all adding 80% of what zen has in the theme administration settings.
I don't know if my garland is worth a project, that's why I ask first. You may judge from the attachment in the meantime.
I didn't intend to duplicate or fork anything, as I didn't do much except that I made them marry:).
My actual intention is to have a theme with a charm of garland and the power of zen that can be useful to end users.
It may or may not be good as a starter theme, but I tried to compensate by cutting a couple of image slices and putting my own additional images into a sprite. And also include a subtheme, only a bit different. And again my actual target is end users.
Any clarification is very much appreciate.
So the question is, is it okay? Whenever there are rejections, I will discontinue the project, of course.
Thanks

gausarts commentedPS: It is a standalone theme. It doesn't depend on neither zen nor garland.

WorldFallz commentedafaik both garland and zen are gpl and as long as your derivative work is also gpl it shouldn't be a problem. Purely as a courtesy, you may wish to credit garland and zen on your theme page (should you decide to release it), but it's not necessary.

gausarts commentedTheir credits are obligatory as I actually didn't do much except for combining them. I hope it will serve as another useful theme to end users who may want garland, yet find some difficulty in modifying it, especially. Thanks for very kind answer.
