Any reason the category element is commented out on line 27? It was causing uninitialised array errors on line 124 for me. I've uncommented it and categories seem to be working as expected for me now. (Also wondering about the cloud, skipHours and skipDays elements.)

I'm interested in 'category' tag too. Had to uncomment it for full mapping. Any reasons it is commented?

As documented in the code, I'm not sure about its functionality.

Due to spec I found http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/rss/rss.html - category is an optional element for channel and for item.

<category> is an optional sub-element of <item>.

It has one optional attribute, domain, a string that identifies a categorization taxonomy.

The value of the element is a forward-slash-separated string that identifies a hierarchic location in the indicated taxonomy. Processors may establish conventions for the interpretation of categories. Two examples are provided below:

<category>Grateful Dead</category>

<category domain="http://www.fool.com/cusips">MSFT</category>

You may include as many category elements as you need to, for different domains, and to have an item cross-referenced in different parts of the same domain.

You know i just read back over this and this is all wrong. that line is commented out because I wanted to remember that it exists. I /was/ going to comment out the code that actually calculates categories. Apparently I didn't and its been enabled all this time you guys where just looking in the wrong place. See the RSS Categories and RSS Domains elements of the parsed source.

As I noted in #2 and the comments for parseCategories, I haven't really gone over the logic of this function and there may be bugs or it might not work at all. If so, please reopen this with more information and I'll take a closer look.

Subscribing, needing category field to get a comma seperated list into more than one taxonomy term.

Uncommented the global parsing but nothing is actually done with it at this time and mapper won't let you map this.
