I'm sure that there's something very simple that I'm missing here. My gallery is showing thumbnails as specified by the Imagefield Gallery Administration. However, it's not an actual thumbnail but rather a 100x100 crop of the original image.
Changing the imagecache settings for the thumbnail and preview in the Imagefield Gallery Content Types page doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas?

I have GD2 enabled and working correctly and I only see a crop not a thumbnail. Is there any way to fix this?

sodani CreditAttribution: sodani commentedThat's what was happening to me as well. Please make sure to:
1 - go to the Imagecache admin area and create a preset
2 - go to Image Field Gallery Content Types and select preset as the thumbnail for your content type
