Hi Nancy
Sorry to bother you with this one - I have used your excellent FAQ module for several months with no problem. Users go online and ask questions which I then reply to online and send them an email.
This evening I have logged in to answer some more questions and when I try to save my response I receive the following error message in red, despite the fact the question when asked was considerably longer and has been working fine. I have recently upgraded to the latest release of Drupal core - is this an issue or something I have done?
Question cannot be longer than 128 characters but is currently 684 characters long.
I would be most grateful if you could advise as soon as possible
Many thanks
David

stella commentedHi David,
I think you meant this question for the FAQ Ask module, re-assigning.

coulldc commentedSorry - many apologies - first time I have asked a question - I should also have provided details of the site which is http://www.trading-online-help.com - it is a very simple site with only 2/3 modules and the original theme as this is the first site I have undertaken. - regards David

nancydruIt is working as designed, so it is not "critical."
I'm not sure why it says 128 in 6.x. That limit should be 256. I need to look at how Stella does the extra stuff now.

susanb commentedI am also having the same problem! I have the FAQ module set for long questions. When I use the FAQ_ASK module it accepts the longer questions fine and they appear OK for the expert to answer. However, once one tried to answer them it's the same as if one had gone right into the FAQ module anyway and tried to enter the longer question and it gives the error! HELP!!! I am using Drupal 6.9 and the latest FAQ module and FAQ_ASK versions.
FAQ_ASK also doesn't recognize the taxonomy terms in 2 languages and lists everything in one long menu instead of providing a drop down menu depending on which language page is displayed when the 'Ask Question' page was called! The FAQ module determines the taxonomy correctly and only displays the list according to language. HELP! :)
Thanks,
Susan
A day later - I have installed the dev version of FAQ_ASK and the languages are now working but the long question is still not! There seems to be a bug with the expert roles definitions. FOr some reason it sporadically allows me to update the experts and it seems to be random!

stella commentedTry the attached patch in conjunction with the latest dev release of the FAQ module, build date: 24th Feb 2009 (should be available within 12 hrs, before then you can grab it from CVS). For existing unanswered questions with this issue - you'll need to edit them and enter a shorter question text in the 'Question' box.
The new workflow is (a) ask a question - you need to enter in both a question summary line and then longer details. (b) answer the question as normal.
Longer question support in FAQ modules requires both a short and a long version. The short version is required for places where it's not possible to use the longer text.
I also included a fix for the 'Ask a question' menu item appearing with an arrow beside it, instead of bullet point, i.e. appearing as if it had child menu items, when it doesn't.
Cheers,
Stella
