I defined a maxlength for the body of the content type "Quotes" (Quotes module) and checked the countdown option.

While the limit is enforced no message or countdown are displayed.

Checked in both IE and FF.

did you tryed the 2.x dev version? does this solve the issue for you?

This version of Maxlength is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.

Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
