Problem

  • The connectors table is a table select: a checkbox in the header, no "Enabled" column. Drupal 7 had an Enabled column with one checkbox per connector.
  • Source names are cased differently, "file system" next to "Upload" and "REST API", which reads oddly in the configuration page titles.
  • Upload sources inherit the cron scanning settings of the scanned sources, though nothing of theirs is ever scanned: releases come by hand.
  • Scanning and parsing hide in an operations dropdown, and parsing is offered whether or not a release waits for it. Their names say little to an administrator.
  • The project form lets the homepage of a project found by the drupal.org connector be edited, though the connector overwrites it. The description of the status field is a database comment.

Proposed resolution

  • One row per connector with its own checkbox under an "Enabled" header, then a column each for the settings link, for looking for new releases and for processing them. The connector is named "Drupal packages (File system)", sources capitalized.
  • Upload sources have no settings of their own: no cron, no scan limit. Cron skips them.
  • Wording: scanning is "Look for new releases", it finds new projects and releases at the source; parsing is "Process @count releases waiting", offered only when releases wait, else "No releases waiting." An upload connector says "Releases are uploaded by hand." The batch pages and confirmations use the same words. The machine names of the routes, the plugin interfaces and the drush commands keep scan and parse, the terms Drupal 7 and the code use throughout.
  • The project form fixes the homepage together with the machine name for projects of scanned connectors. The status field is "Enabled": "Only enabled projects get their new releases processed and are listed for translation."

Tests

The connector settings test checks the Enabled header without a checkbox, the connector names, the look and process texts of an enabled connector, and that an upload connector says its releases come by hand and has no cron settings. The project form test follows the new connector name.
