Problem/Motivation

In working on #3579507: Re-work the author grant realms I've noticed that there are several gaps in test coverage.

We might as well close those gaps and get those tests into the 2.x branch since #3579507: Re-work the author grant realms is slated to trigger a 3.x release.

Proposed resolution

Add the tests in this issue.

Merged those in. they were basically copy/pastes of the existing tests but with some changes to apply the changes on a per-node basis, so we're actually testing that.

Now that this issue is closed, review the contribution record.
