Description:
A new settings.php setting allows installing contrib modules on development versions of Drupal core. This is to aid development, and should NOT be enabled on production sites as it may affect stability and pose security risks.
Previously, the core version check fails because typically, a contrib module will not declare that it supports the 'main' branch of Drupal.
To enable this, add the following to settings.php:
$settings['extension_discovery_ignore_core_version_requirement'] = TRUE;
A warning on the status report page will remind site admins that this setting is enabled.
Impacts:
Module developers
Site templates, recipes and distribution developers
