I am interested in co-maintaining the SMTP module. I have contributed to these issues. My intention is to fix bugs and make new release.

I am aware of #3424400: Deprecate module in favor of core's built in SMTP mail handling capabilities offered in 10.2.x.

Thanks for reaching out! I've added you as a co-maintainer to commit code and shepherd issues. Once those issues are committed, I can review the release and make a new cut.
