https://new.drupal.org/docs/drupal-cms/configuration/set-up-email-sending

Problem/Motivation

In "Step #1: Gather your SMTP connection information," the first sentence is "Google requires that you create an App Password in your Google account:"

Some people may have multiple email addresses for the same site or domain name, such as admin@example.com, mail@example.com, or janedoe@example.com.

Proposed resolution

It would be helpful to specify which account should be used for creating the App Password.

For example, that sentence might be revised to say "Google requires that you create an App Password in your Google account. Use the Google account that matches the email address on the Configuration > System > Basic site settings page."

(The bold indicates the suggested addition; it does not need to be bold if added to the documentation.)

If this is not correct and it doesn't matter which email address is used, it would be helpful to state that, too.

At the moment, the documentation on new.drupal.org can be edited by a more restricted group of people, compared to the documentation on drupal.org. I am not sure this will eventually change, but at the moment only two people edited that page.

Thanks for the update, @avpaderno. And thanks for changing the issue title to something more descriptive than the default title the form provided and I left in place when I submitted the issue.

I hope the suggestion to clarify this is helpful. I understand that the two people editing the documentation on new.drupal.org may or may not make any changes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've updated the page. And yeah as far as I understand it new.drupal.org is still a work-in-progress and the permissions to allow the broader community to edit docs pages are still being sorted out.
