How does this compare with the taxonomy module?

I am more interested in the performance aspects like, how fast could this handle 200 000 nodes with a hierarchical 4 level taxonomy? The big issue with taxonomy is that it has to join itself several times to get the nodes sitting at the end of the hierarchy points.
