griffynh I can’t go, but a mate of mine is speaking!https://events.drupal.org/barcelona2024/session/symfony-console-evolving... him out if you’re about and that sounds interesting.
pameeela I'll be plugging bug smash! https://events.drupal.org/barcelona2024/session/jumpstart-your-drupal-co...

1️⃣ Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.

griffynh It seems very quiet in Bugsmash for the last month or two, should we change things up?Are the daily threads still useful?I’m pretty busy on this end with client work, so it’s hard to give BS as much love.
mstrelan Should we set a time limit on "The One" and move on to "The Next One" when we stop making progress?
pameeela is anyone able to be online for the barcelona contrib day to assist new smashers? (i'll be there in person)

3️⃣ Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs

quietone All open bugs
Critical: 74
Major: 849
Normal: 4,568
Minor: 314
Total 5,805(edited)
quietone All open bugs tagged Bug Smash Initiative
Critical: 14
Major: 226
Normal: 1,096
Minor: 109
Total 1,445(edited)
quietone 3,653 closed issues tagged Bug Smash Initiative
catch We are not that far off having as many bugsmash-closed issues as there are open issues.
lendude My company has closed all our Google Accounts, so I no longer have access to the historical data I had in a spreadsheet. Also redoing a fresh batch would mean I have to figure out all the formulas again that used to calculate everything, and not finding the energy to do that
quietone Oh no! Did they not give you a change to save the data?
lendude Yeah like 2 years ago and then said nothing for 2 years and then closed them without warning  I could probably get them to open it up again, but that too would require effort. And it’s just the raw data that is lost, the calculated results are in the git repo for the graphs

4️⃣ Update on the one :o:

quietone So, this is now to deprecated \Drupal\Component\Utility\Environment::setTimeLimit and replace it with a new method.
quietone Or is it to be replaced with a config setting for automated cron?
catch I think we could add new issues for both of those and then close the issue as duplicate maybe?
griffynh cc @pameeela
pameeela agree with catch but someone who knows more about it has to create the new issues
quietone So two issues; 1) add a config setting for automated cron and 2) Deprecate Environment::setTimeLimit with no replacement ?
griffynh @acbramley can you assist?
smustgrave Moved over credit

5️⃣ Help me - Is there anything you could use a :hand:

6️⃣  PMNMI issues that we can close this fortnight

quietone I closed quite a few in the last week or so.
quietone There are now 402, with more that 50 that have not been updated in over 1 year.
smustgrave Wow last I saw the PNMI queue it was 700s
quietone Ah, that was 402 for PMNMI and a Bug Report. There are 738 PMNMI issues for all categories (edited)

1️⃣.1️⃣ Bugsmash is quiet, what can we do?

griffynh My thoughts are here: https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1725941587849349?thread_t... this a problem to solve?
quietone Trial focusing on a 'component' for one month. Start with components that have maintainers and invite them to join the channel for the month. (edited)
pameeela hoping to drive some interest with my session but i still do like having this, and it's ok if the threads don't get actioned some days, IMO
smustgrave I still like the daily task as it’s almost a mental break to work on something random.  But I also like quietone’s idea of maybe a component focus a month.  I imagine if we knocked out a bunch of translation bugs or view bugs people would love that
griffynh I’m happy to trial a ‘component’ approach for two months to see how it goes. What should we start with?I can see Transliteration in the Component list, is that the same thing as Translation?https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?text=&assigned=&subm...…]tion+system&issue_tags_op=%3D&issue_tags=Bug+Smash+Initiative
smustgrave I vote TranslationViewsMigrationPending if submaintainers are free
pameeela My only hesitation with multilingual stuff is it’s so freaking complicated. But maybe worth a try!
smustgrave Maybe that’s too eager for a trial run.  Views I think would be a good one?
griffynh So should I grab the last updated Views issue from the queue? This filter? https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?text=&assigned=&subm...…]g%20Smash%20Initiative&&order=last_comment_timestamp&sort=asc
pameeela yeah i think so, but really only 179? wow
pameeela should we go by oldest?
smustgrave Do we want to remove the bugsmash tag from the filter and do all bugs?
pameeela ohhh i was wondering how it could be so low, i knew there must be some reason
pameeela yes, i think we should
pameeela 586, that's more like it!! haha
pameeela no tag, by oldest would be https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?project_issue_follow...…]ext=&assigned=&submitted=&issue_tags=&&order=created&sort=asc
griffynh So maybe for the daily :lipstick:, over the next month, I’ll share the oldest Views issue as our triage target?

1️⃣.2️⃣ @mstrelan “Should we set a time limit on “The One” and move on to “The Next One” when we stop making progress?”

griffynh Makes sense to me, its probably a slip on my part and should be done monthly/every other month.
griffynh Should it be https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/221257 that’s the second from the top on this list: https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?project_issue_follow...…]xt=&assigned=&submitted=&issue_tags=&&&order=created&sort=asc
quietone Maybe every other month because they tend to be challenging?
pameelea oh oops, i replied in the other thread
pameelea i still feel that we should do something for this one to progress it, most likely, close it in favour of new issues.
pameelea if something gets to the point where it's a dead end, we should help facilitate progress somehow because if we can't then i don't think it will ever move
catch The next one looks suspiciously like https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C072BF486FN/p1725383998683979?thread_t... i would very much like some starshot/bugsmash combos.
pameelea well i've suggested the summary one needs to be split, there is a genuine bug (i think) that it creates invalid HTML. the trimming tags is not a bug, it works as designed
catch Not sure the test coverage means it's works as designed as such - people probably added tests to cover the existing behaviour. However splitting it sounds good regardless.
pameelea re the starshot combo, just checking you are saying that we should fix the tag trimming in core so we don't need contrib?
pameelea hmm so the invalid HTML might be fixed in CKE5? i can't reproduce.... i will post a comment
pameelea ok, we have a new new one!
https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/221761
catch Nice!
catch MR up on that one.
catch Opened https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3473323 but I don't really think we need config for cron time limit, so wasn't sure about the other one.
catch https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/295021 was about five down the list, moved to a task and retitled.
