Problem/Motivation

At time-of-writing, about 30,000 sites use the 8.x-2.x version of this module, but it doesn't have a stable release covered by security advisories.

I'd like to get this project to a state where we feel comfortable making a 8.x-2.0 release, marking it as "Supported" and "Recommended", and opting into security advisory coverage.

Proposed resolution

Determine what we need to do to get a stable release of this module, then do those things!

Remaining tasks

  1. Fix issues blocking a release...
  2. Make an RC release
  3. Wait a week
  4. Make a full release

Some issues that would be nice to have for a release, but aren't technically a blocker are...

  1. #3465577: Split sitemap_book config schema from sitemap schema
  2. #3465600: Drop support for Drupal 9.x, 10.0 and 10.1
  3. #3459435: Project Browser: Create a logo for Sitemap
  4. #2856063: Add tests for the settings UI ordering
  5. #3367619: Remove unused variables

There are some other Open Bug reports and Tasks filed against 8.x-2.x-dev, which the maintainers do not consider to be blockers.

+1 for making an RC. You've done a great job closing the open bugs. Time to move this forward. TBH, I'd do it today.
