Upon getting to step 8 and it saying that it's starting the import... Nothing more happens. It sits at 0%. This is /after/ it showed me various correct-looking examples of what it was about to do. Halp?

Also, I find that I cannot delete old imports with a status of "busy".

Title: Doesn't actually import » node_import-6.x-1.x-dev not working
Category: bug » task

Did you read the release notes of node_import-6.x-1.x-dev?

Port of node_import to DRUPAL6.

This version of the module is considered unstable and may not work from time to time. Use officially released versions instead.

So, wait until an official release is released. Any time now...

Sure, it's unstable, but a bug is a bug is a bug.

Also, telling me to use the officially released version is rather funny, as there isn't one.

Let's put it this way: If I tell you my car is broken, will you tell me to pop into my (nonexistant) UFO and fly to work instead? Wouldn't it make more sense to call the local mechanic and tell him that it won't go?

@dirkson

It's common knowledge -dev copies may be unstable.

Insulting the (awesome) developer is not the solution.

If you're having issues, wait for the official version, patch it yourself ( and submit the patch ) or use something else.

It is not a bug, it is a task, it is work in progress.

Indeed, there is no officially released version yet. So why complain about it?

Let's put it this way: you bought a car from me while the (new) shop is still closed. You complain about the car not going forward while I stated that it will have no wheels from time to time, will probably crash into the closest tree and that you should only buy the car when it has been released. I'll open the front door of the shop so you don't have to keep coming into the shop through the cellar window.

Decreasing priority as I need to spend more time on painting road-signs for your UFO.

And if you really want to track how the -dev is going, read http://drupal.org/project/cvs/4840.

I'm not sure where davidwhthomas got the idea I was insulting Mr. Jacques. I think he's a cool developer (perhaps a bit slow, but he does have SEVERAL projects to update to D6, and he's certainly doing better than my pathetic attempts at updating modules I need) and I'm very excited by a lot of the new features I saw in the bits of node import that /do/ work. Also, your suggestion to "use something else" is less than helpful, as I'm unaware of anything else that does the same thing as node import- Perhaps that's my deficit, though, could you enlighten me?

I'm just confused by Summit's response. I test the module, report back what did and didn't work, and somehow I'm /not/ helping with the testing effort?

Back to RobrechtJacques, my main point is this: While your release note did point out that the thing is unstable, it didn't make any mention of core functionality (the ability to import things) not being there. To use the car analogy again, I had no knowledge of the weels being gone, and no real method to check (My php skills are atrocious) so I assumed that any behavior deviating from, "Goes forward a good portion of the time, but crashes too much to release" was unintended, and figured you should know. The link to the cvs page was neat, thanks for that- I'll be refreshing it often.

Really, I'm a bit astounded at how much of a clusterfuck (To be a bit crude) reporting an issue has become. It reminds me a bit of trying to report a security issue to some large organization- Somehow, the PROBLEM has ceased to be the problem, and instead the guy reporting it has become the problem.

dirkson, you made your point, please back to business now, to get 6 out in release. Greetings, Martijn
