0️⃣ . 5️⃣ Any thoughts on how we can improve Bugsmash? Things to add/remove that we’ve got in place?

larowlan we're not getting much buy in on the hard problems meeting, so maybe we just make it about criticals, as that's the main place we've not hit our original goal
Griffyn Heels I think that’s a good idea, try that for a few meetings and see how it goes?
Griffyn Heels I don’t think the targets are proving very effective, not only are they a pain to find/promote, they also don’t seem to get much engagement.Should we try a different approach?
Griffyn Heels Also, the ‘help me’ thread rarely gets used. Could we change that? I guess it’s not hurting anything by keeping it.
larowlan yeah +1 to those two changes as well from me
Kristen Pol (she/her) Since I haven't really been helping with the "hard problems" or "targets" I defer to others on those... in recent months, I've been just closing out PMNMI issues... I feel like the initiative is run very effectively but since I'm on the periphery I'm not sure what might be changed for the better... we do need to close more critical and minor to reach those targets so I guess whatever helps there?
akshaydalvi212 Just a thought, can we also have a thread where we target some minor issues so that the beginner dev with the bugsmash initiative will get comfortable for further contribution.
lendude That sounds like nice idea. Maybe flip the ‘hard problems’ meet to a ‘novice’ meet, where we either bring in new novice issues, or triage the novice queue mostly to check if they are indeed novice
catch We used to do 'critical issue triage' with mostly the core committers and sometimes subsystem maintainers, this was mostly in the run up to Drupal 8's release to check that what was in the queue was really critical. It has dropped off, but we were talking about opening a new channel for it. Somewhere between bugsmash and needs review queue. I'll open that channel now and link it from both places. If it doesn't work as a dedicated channel we can just close it again.
catch OK #critical-triage
catch That'll include tasks and plans etc. but we could pick specific critical bugs to try to get over the line.
ambermatz What about instead of "hard problems", having a week that focuses on tasks that can take a bit longer, like "Needs issue summary update" or "Needs steps to reproduce", or even "Needs tests"? (Or a mix of those.)

1️⃣ Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.

Kristen Pol (she/her) Will there be a DrupalCon table at the contribution event? I'll be mentoring
ambermatz For DrupalCon attendees, any interest in stickers or 4"x6" cards promoting Bug Smash? If so, please state your preference (cards or stickers).
Kristen Pol (she/her) I think cards would be better but I’ve stopped putting stickers on things the last few years so I may be biased

2️⃣.1️⃣ Wins - what wins have you had since the last meeting? Share your successes!

larowlan spent a lot of time in the RTBC queue, its been a bumper month for core commits
Kristen Pol (she/her) Not really for bug smash but been guiding the project adoption work in #d10readiness and we've been making some good progress

2️⃣.2️⃣ Thanks - a space for callouts to other contributors who’ve helped you

acbramley @larowlan for committing some of my big patches in the last few weeks

2️⃣.3️⃣ Blockers - what got in the way of your issues / goals

Kristen Pol (she/her) Shingles!!! (get your vaccine! it's not a fun thing to get and it's a lot more common than I realized)
ambermatz I'm determined to write this test for Help Topics but I'm over my head and my brain has melted a bit. The blocker is I'm on the uphill portion of learning to write tests.
dww @ambermatz a lot of us in here are quite versed with test writing. That's an easy one to get help with…
ambermatz @dww Thank you. So, it's ok to ask for help in this channel for something like that?
dww Oh, if it's a bug.
ambermatz Otherwise, ask in #testing?
dww Otherwise #testing or even #contribute

2️⃣.4️⃣ :loudspeaker: If you helped with the triage since the last meeting then don’t forget to post a comment to triage issue on d.o.

2️⃣.5️⃣ Approve last fortnight’s minutes

Griffyn Heels These are ready for review/approval[#3348352]

3️⃣ Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs

4️⃣ Lets check back on our targets and set some new ones

Griffyn Heels Current targets are:Critical - #3118679: Allow driver name to be different then the PDO driver name during site install proces - No recent updates
Griffyn Heels I’d say we should get 4 new tickets. Definitely update the Critical & Major
Griffyn Heels Is there a way to filter d.o issues to just critical? https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search?text=&projects=&assigned=&s...…]B0%5D=1&issue_tags_op=%3D&issue_tags=&order=created&sort=descAny good ones to promote in here?
catch #2833539: SQLSTATE[40001]: Serialization failure: 1213 Deadlock duplicate so it'd be a twofer once it's in.

5️⃣ Help me - Is there anything you could use a :hand:

6️⃣ Let’s look back at PMNMI issues that we can close this fortnight

7️⃣ What are you learning / planning to learn this fortnight?

Version: 10.1.x-dev » 11.x-dev

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main. New developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted for the 11.x branch, which currently accepts only minor-version allowed changes. For more information, see the Drupal core minor version schedule and the Allowed changes during the Drupal core release cycle.
