I am petitioning to be granted the "webmaster" role.

I have been a member of the Drupal community since 2008 and a member of the Security Team since 2015.

My primary reason for requesting this access is to help administer issues in the issue queue outside of my security role access. I often run across issues that maintainers have indicated a desire for comments to be closed, e.g. #3174214: Support Google Analytics 4/gtag.js ; while I technically could make the required change via my security access, I believe it falls outside of the responsibilities of the security team thus an inappropriate use of the powers given to me.

If the webmasters team would be fine with me using my security team access for the purpose stated above then I am happy to withdraw this request.

Who is part of the Security Team already has the permission to administer comments, but I think it is fine to add the site moderator role to make clear that you are closing comments even for issues that are not related to security reports.

I have given the role to DamienMcKenna.

Can I have some clarification here?

I agree the role should be granted to @DamienMcKenna, but how is this different from this issue where dorficus was not granted the role.
https://www.drupal.org/project/site_moderators/issues/3171836#comment-14...

" if the "Side moderator" role is given to someone, in order for them to function in some other capacity (say, as a "CWG Conflict Resolution Team Member"), things such as POLP becomes much more difficult to monitor and enforce."

Thanks.

@volkswagenchick Thank you! I was searching that issue, but I could not find it (because I thought it was postponed or active).

That issue has been closed by dorficus himself. Nobody decided the role should not be given. (I commented that, given the role dorficus has, as member of the CWG, the Site moderator should be given too.)

That's a completely reasonable point, volkswagenchick.

Do both of these requests suggest a separate role for "project issue moderator" with less permissions than the main site moderator role?

Actually, none of the modules used on drupal.org has a permission to administer issues. The Project module has the administer projects permission, while the Project issue tracking module has the assign and be assigned project issue permission. If such a role would be created, it would have more permissions than what necessary for the role itself.
