Hi, reading about this issue #146084: Default path prefix for English (and DBTNG it), I come up with a patch for your module: it adds a warning if admin changes default site language to a language with a path-prefix, leaving English (or other not-default language) without a path-prefix.
This may help old D5 users to configure properly D6 new language/translation settings.

Sorry, I don't think this is related to the original purpose of preserve language.

I know we have used this module in the past for unrelated fixes, but I'd rather it didn't become a "throw it all in" module either !
