Group clone does not currently work with latest Group -module version. This is due to many changes in the Group-module and they require changes in this modules logic as well.

Created a fork and added base changes in 3338187-group-v3-changes -branch. With these changes applied, you are able to clone a group but not any of its contents, users or other relations. Feel free to continue from here, I'm not sure when I will be able to.

Probably another version of the module is needed eventually to keep continuing support for earlier Group-versions.

Updated 3338187-group-v3-changes -branch, now Group content cloning seems to work correctly.

Still need to test Group user membership clone

I can confirm that this fork works on Group 3.x. +RTBC and would appreciate this being part of the next release.

Tested with:

  • Group 3.2.1
  • Drupal 10.1.6

Test passed:

  • Clone a Group
  • Clone a Group and it's nodes

Needs testing:

  • Clone a clone of a group
  • Clone a group with group media enabled
  • Clone without batch

If that’ll get a RTBC I can just merge that but as a maintainer I’ll not have enough time to manage 2 branches properly so it’d be much better if we could focus on 1.1.

@graber - I don't see any other solution then making a new version without braking all group 1 version users group clone features.

So.. you see no other solution than working on 1.0.x or..?

Nah this needs to be at least a 2.0.x or even better 3.0.x to match the related group version. This would be much clearer I think (other modules in the group eco system are also following this pattern).
If this get's merged into 1.0.x it will break compatibility with Group1 version which is still supported by the group maintainers.

A co-worker of mine will make a review of this MR soon this week and fix issues if necessary. Since we need this for a current project we can invest a little time into that and help maintaining the new branch if needed.

Great, I think you should work from 1.1.x though, otherwise your work will be unsupported.
I don't think it'll ever be released as well since it'll be based on an old branch.

I opened another issue. I was not able to make a branch with 1.1.x in this issue.
