Problem/Motivation
Related to #3329936: Add a Project Logo, I emailed the Symfony to enquire about using the Symfony logo in a project logo. I received the following reply:
Using the logo as you did is fine (but you should also add the Drupal logo to avoid confusion -- see the next point), but the project name is not. Right now, the name is confusing as people might think it's the "main" Symfony Mailer component, where as it's just the integration with Drupal.
I can see their point, as I didn't initially realise there was a Symfony Mailer project as part of Symfony.
Steps to reproduce
Proposed resolution
Consider modifying the project name. Some possibilities:
- Symfony Mailer Integration
- Symfony Mailer for Drupal
I would assume the "symfony_mailer" machine name shouldn't be a problem.
Remaining tasks
User interface changes
API changes
Data model changes

adamps commentedBoth are sensible ideas, but also a bit long. We end up writing something like "The Symfony Mailer for Drupal module uses the Symfony Mailer library"...
So I wonder about something short and sweet such as "S-Mailer"??

lostcarpark commentedSorry for bringing this on you. Probably better to catch it before a stable release.

jaypanWhat about "Drupal Symfony Mailer"?
lostcarpark commentedI do feel keeping Symfony Mailer in the name would help make it clear that it's integrating the Symfony Mailer project, and also keep the recognition that the project has already amassed. I think it just needs to be distinguishable from the Symfony Mailer project that's part of Symfony.
adamps commentedYes indeed, thank you for revealing the problem.
That would work.
adamps commentedI changed the project page.
Probably we should also have a patch to change the 2 info.yml files. I can't think of anything else that would need changing.
adamps commentedI changed the documentation guide.

jaypanThe Swiftmailer module also needs to be updated, as it tells people that it Swiftmailer not longer supported on the requirements page of installations, and to switch to Symfony Mailer. That should be updated.
lostcarpark commentedI would suggest adding a line to the module description, possibly below the opening paragraph, containing something like the following:

jungleShould the change be made to https://www.drupal.org/project/symfony_mailer_log accordingly? Sorry for commenting on a fixed issue.
adamps commentedYes I would say so. Please raise an issue for that module - I'm not a maintainer.

jungleRe #21 Done, and patch uploaded there, see #3337255: Change project name to Drupal Symfony Mailer Log, thanks!
