The Project Browser project displays a project logo for each module/project in a set of cards. This is a major initiative coming in Drupal 10 to make it easier for site builders to find and install modules.

I have designed a logo I'm suggesting for Symfony Mailer. Feel free to use it if you think appropriate. I have uploaded the PNG image and the SVG vector image created in Inkscape (I've appended .txt to the filename as .svg is not an allowed extension).

Nice.

I like that you include the symfony logo. However it's presumably their trademark so we presumably would need their permission to use it. Did you explore this?

The page you link to specifies a PNG image so I guess that's the one I would use.

Yes, the Symfony logo is a trademark of Symfony SAS.

The use of the logo by this project would appear to come under "Permitted use of the Trademarks" as defined on this webpage:

https://symfony.com/trademark

However, it does not explicitly say combining into a logo like this is either permitted or forbidden.

It does say to contact them if you have doubt over usage.

I would be happy to contact them for clarification if you are happy for me to do so, but don't want to without clearing with the project owner first.

Regarding the version to use, yes the PNG version should be used, but I felt it a good idea to share the SVG version in case there is any need to modify or rescale the logo in the future.

I emailed Symfony about the logo and received the following reply:

Using the logo as you did is fine (but you should also add the Drupal logo to avoid confusion -- see the next point), but the project name is not. Right now, the name is confusing as people might think it's the "main" Symfony Mailer component, where as it's just the integration with Drupal.

As per their suggestion, I have created two versions of the logo that include the Drupal logo. The first places the Drupal "drop" on the envelope as a watermark:

The second puts the entire envelope inside the "drop" logo.

I have created a separate issue for the point about the name: #3335010

I think I have a slight preference for the second variant.
