This should not happen. I tested this.
Zenimagine also has a strange error with his 30-days setting.
@zenimagine, please share your Formatter settings and field settings. Thanks

I added a text line when table is empty.
In general, tables can be empty.

See below appended example.

Indeed, you example looks a bit ugly, but my (standard Drupal Theme) gives 'nice' colours.

I trust the extra text is enough.
