This is a long-standing project which I have been glad to make use of. I thank the maintainers for their many years of contribution to it.

Now it has been marked as abandoned but without indication of what has happened or what would be the best course of action for users of this module (apart from the link to dealing with abandoned projects).

I am wondering

  • Have the maintainers been preoccupied but are intending to resume?
  • Is anyone enquiring about taking on ownership/maintenance?
  • Is the project superseded by another which I should migrate to?

Any information or advice would be very welcome.

same questions here. IMO this feature the module makes to Drupal should find it's way into core. It's a common way to set a password while filling out registration form (at least as a additional config option for the site builder/admin). I made a "core idea" request.
