Importing publications with large number of authors

Problem/Motivation

I have tried to add this publication

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.nima.2011.11.081

with about 350 authors by using DOI Lookup and BibTeX import. The import fails without any errors. In 2016, this problem was already reported here:

https://www.drupal.org/project/biblio/issues/2713569

Any help or suggestions for how to solve the problem are highly appreciated.
