The feed passes validation, but the article summary should be at least 600 characters.

I like to keep summaries brief. The recommendation to trim summaries between 600 and 1,000 characters would make that the maximum, not the minimum, length.

To me, that means at least 600 characters, and not more than 1000 (use a summary for your feed content between 600 and 1000 characters).

Differently, if the maximum length would be 600 characters, there should not be any reason to say anything about 1000 characters.

  1. It is recommended that you trim, or use a summary for your feed content between 600 and 1000 characters. Due to the number of posts on the Planet, this will make it more pleasant for readers to find what is interesting for them without having to scroll page after page.

I believe I understand the recommendation correctly as setting an upper limit on length of between 600 and 1000 characters. However, a recommendation is not a requirement. I hope someone can weigh in on whether this recommendation blocks my feed from being accepted.

I agree with Darren’s comment in #5

It is a recommendation, not a requirement...

I often see summaries on the Drupal planet feed that are paragraphs and paragraphs long, that is much more annoying than a short summary

It's a recommendation, but if it's written, it means that needs to be considered when adding a feed. Differently, those sentences would not be added to the Planet Drupal guidelines.

I'm inclined to agree with @volkswagenchick here. The guideline is given as a recommendation. I think it's absolutely worth highlighting that recommendation here as you did @kiamlaluno - but with @DarrenOh now fully aware of the recommendation I don't think we need to block inclusion of the feed on it.

I would say let's go ahead and get the feed added.
