mansoor20 Hello from India

1️⃣ Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.

larowlan #3199891: New block to highlight stale issues
dww Refresh interest / availability in bugsmash triage sessions?
dww We probably also need a thread about bugsmash @ DrupalCon — there’s a video interview, there’s coordinating triage & other work during the bugsmash day, etc

2️⃣.1️⃣ Wins - what wins have you had since the last meeting in February ? Share your successes! (edited)

larowlan at the weekend we got the RTBC bugs queue under 10 items
dww Not strictly bugsmash, but I’m super psyched that we finally landed #3032390: Add an event to sanitize filenames during upload
Kristen Pol (she/her) Had a few small bugs get committed so that felt good :)
mohit.aghera Committed: #3187004: DrupalDateTime serialization issue (edited)
larowlan @mohit.aghera when the meeting is over, please repost them in the main channel with the :recycle: prefix :+1:

2️⃣.2️⃣ Thanks - a space for callouts to other contributors who’ve helped you

dww Thanks @quietone for keeping so many bug fixes moving forward, for being so kind and gracious in the face of pedantic nitpick reviews (Eg most of mine), and for generally being such a wonderful collaborator and contributor.
jibran Thanks to @quietone and @Kristen Pol (she/her) for triage efforts.
jibran @lendude and @larowlan were around to. (edited)
larowlan to @jibran for starting a couple of triage threads, that was great
Kristen Pol (she/her) Thanks to @quietone, @dww, and @jibran for help and to @larowlan for commits :)
mohit.aghera Thanks to @larowlan for reviewing issues and doing RTBC.
larowlan seeming your name quite a lot mohit, thanks for all the work
quietone @jibran for running the triage sessions and reviews

2️⃣.3️⃣ Blockers - what’s getting in the way of your issues / goals

larowlan a new puppy
jibran Awww, new_puppy++
Kristen Pol (she/her) My tendency to look for new issues rather than follow up on my old ones :/
quietone @Kristen Pol (she/her), I do that too!
pameeela i feel like i got most of the low hanging fruit last year. so it’s slow going trying to pick it back up again. i’m sure there is still plenty, but i haven’t found it again this year!
quietone Yes, feels like I have to stand on my tippy toes to reach the low hanging fruit.
lendude If I look at the Views queue and reverse order it on last update timestamp, there is still a whole lot of fruit. I’m aware that not everybody will want to mess with Views, but I think the same can be done for any component in the queue. Pick a component you are comfortable with, filter on open bugs, reverse order it on last update and go from the top
quietone Yes, that is solid advice. It is also what I have done but living in a migrate silo like I do there isn't much I am not comfortable with. However, I have avoided views and there are probably ones there I can at least test. Thanks for the reminder

3️⃣ Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs

larowlan 34 bugs smashed this fornight
larowlan 45 new bugs opened
larowlan 8 issues moved to support request
Kristen Pol (she/her) Anyone tracking average age? Curious if it's been going down
quietone Me too
lendude I’ll try to update https://lendude.gitlab.io/bug-smash-initiative/ this week

4️⃣ Nominate your pet issue for a bug-smash target for the next fortnight

jibran #2981047: Allow adding computed bundle fields in Views#comment-14010637
Kristen Pol (she/her) 14 y.o. issue that @quietone and @jungle made recent progress on https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/84883
larowlan One that continues to bite on real world projects #1852090: Cached render elements can have duplicate HTML IDs
larowlan Turns out it causes all sorts of issues, not just accessibility
Kristen Pol (she/her) I've definitely run into this issue before

5️⃣ Help me - Is there anything you could use a :hand:

jibran @lendude please have a look at #2981047: Allow adding computed bundle fields in Views#comment-14010637. (edited)
Kristen Pol (she/her) I still have a few in the main channel if you scroll back over the last week

6️⃣ "Reminder about security issues" @jibran (edited)

jibran Please review my issue Lee :stuck_out_tongue:
larowlan which one sorry?
pameeela the bug smash meeting is not a forum for pestering core committers to review your issues :stuck_out_tongue:
jibran @pameeela it is a  bug so it qualifies:D

7️⃣ New d.o. block to highlight stale issues @larowlan

jibran #3199891: New block to highlight stale issues
larowlan wondering if people think this is a good idea and if so, please chime in with thoughts on the issue. Idea is to push triage back onto people who filed and long-since forgot an issue
larowlan Not just bugs, but will count bugs
pameeela love this idea!
dww Guilty! I’ve had quite a few 14+-years-ago dww issues re-appear on my radar in recent weeks.
larowlan its a pity spring has started in the Northern Hemisphere because we could badge it as 'Spring cleaning' of the issue queue

8️⃣ Refresh interest / availability in bugsmash triage sessions? @dww

dww I believe we have a weekly triage “meeting” at alternate times. Life keeps getting in the way of my participation. But I’d love to hear how they’re going. Can we do anything else to help promote them? Should we add other times?
larowlan These have been held on an adhoc basis initiated by Jibran, I think that's been great
jibran Last week we had one on Tuesday as scheduled and then Wednesday and Thu was adhoc.
jibran We have one on Friday Morning!
dww Y’all do them as Slack chat? Do you do audio / video call, too?
jibran Threads mostly.
dww Anything to know about how they’re running?
dww Just announce in the channel “hey, I’m gonna triage, anyone around interested?
jibran Here is the tread https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1614043805006600
jibran Here is another one https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1614134164024800
jibran And it went on till Friday with new threads.
jibran We also involved #ux team as well  https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C1AFW2ZPD/p1614154712007200

9️⃣ DrupalCon is coming up what is in store for #bugsmash @dww

jibran there’s a video interview, there’s coordinating triage & other work during the bugsmash day, etc
larowlan Please nominate yourself here https://doodle.com/poll/32awp3v7d8recb4c if you're interested/available to take part in a small interview about the initiative to promote Drupalcon
larowlan And let us know if you're interested in mentoring during contribution days (remotely, via slack)
dww Do I understand that a specific day is focused on bugsmash? If so, do we know which date?Or is the idea to have folks around to mentor throughout the whole event?
larowlan @rachel_norfolk @hestenet (he/him) ^
Kristen Pol (she/her) I can probably help during the event, depending on the time of day
dww I can probably also help, depending on the day. Like Kristen, I’m probably more timezone friendly for this Con than many of the bugsmash regulars...
hestenet (he/him) AutoUpdates and BugSmash are sharing a day - and I believe it will be Wednesday...
dww So 2021-04-14? Fun, the day before US Tax Day!
hestenet (he/him) Oh ha!
Kristen Pol (she/her) All the more reason to do a tax extension
