I just moved my site from an old installation to a new one (both drupal 6)
On the old site i somehow got the favicon working. I've just wasted the past 2 hours trying to get it set up on the new site. Unfortunately that was of no avail.
My guess is there is a bug in the theme, since garland displays it perfectly well (its set as admin theme).

I've looked at the database as well, the link added in the theme settnings menu was present. But the theme just does not appear to be echoing the right code.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Workaround: I have uploaded the favicon into the files folder,

(using Administer › Site building › Themes › Configure [Global Settings: Upload icon image])

and now it works.

Needs fixing nonetheless.
