Problem/Motivation

Sharing any drupal.org link on Facebook (or maybe any social media) gives a different logo, which is of QED42's, a drupal.org top-contributor.

Steps to reproduce

Share any drupal.org link on Facebook.

Proposed resolution

That logo has alt attribute but it seems Drupal log doesn't.

There is indeed no og:image in the metadata, so the social platforms are left to figure it out for their own.

Checked with the twitter card validator it just does not pick an image. https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator I guess Facebook is trying to outsmart that.

The Facebook sharing validator is at:

https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

but you need a Facebook account to use; perhaps even a Facebook developer account, which can be set up quickly.

https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.drupal....
shows the QED logo.

https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.drupal....
shows a correct drupal logo

Project: Drupal.org site moderators » Drupal.org customizations

The section, issue, and probably others, content types need a default metatag configuration for this.

I've updated the metatag config for a few content types. https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupalorg/commit/729b97e I think that'll fix it for sections and events ( I forgot to stick the issue # in the commit message). Issue fix is coming shortly.

This screenshot was taken not more than 10 minutes ago. Sorry I’m on my phone and therefore I couldn’t find out how to reopen the issue.

Closed (fixed) issues can only be re-opened by each project’s maintainer. It is almost always best to open followup issues rather than update closed issues.

This fix was only for issues. https://www.drupal.org/project/add_more_alternate is a module project. (Please also always include URLs whenever relevant, being able to click to the example is helpful.) I went ahead and put in configuration for most project types: https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupalorg/commit/c000fb2

Seems it still happens. I pasted a project link in our Drupal group on Facebook, and QED42's logo came up. The URL is https://www.facebook.com/groups/drupalturkiye/permalink/3844389085622811...
