Problem/Motivation

We should simplify the admin form in 2.0.x. It is overly complex in 1.x.

Proposed resolution

  • Restrict the admin controls to functional settings.
  • Remove appearance settings from the module.
  • Perhaps use vertical tabs?

Data model changes

Appearance options will move to a submodule, and depend on the plugin selected.

I've made a proposal for a new admin form in this Google sheet:

I've specified which features to keep, some should be reorganized and there are a few new elements.

Based on the proposed list, we're down to 24 core settings from 54 in 1.x.

Following up our plans, I've made a new admin page with the settings we decided to keep. Settings related to design will be moved to a separate sub-module which will feature a default banner appearance.
