A node that isn't unpublished isn't show in any list, except in those lists that are for webmaster users or administrators. Since that use case was unpublished, it was not listed in the case studies list. That is by design.

Case studies aren't shown in organization nodes. You won't find any organization node that shows a list of the case studies created by users associated to that organization, except in the case the links to the case studies are manually added from the user who own the organization node.
