Hello all, it’s time for the weekly migration initiative meeting. The meeting will take place in slack in various threads
This meeting:
➤ Is for core migrate maintainers and developers and anybody else in the community with an interest in migrations
➤ Usually happens every Thursday and alternates between 1400 and 2100 UTC.
➤ Is done on the #migration channel in Drupal Slack (see www.drupal.org/slack for information).
➤ Happens in threads, which you can follow to be notified of new replies even if you don’t comment in the thread. You may also join the meeting later and participate asynchronously!
➤ Has a public agenda anyone can add to here: TODO. See the parent issue for an idea of the typical agenda.
➤*Transcript will be exported and posted* to the agenda issue. For anonymous comments, start with a :bust_in_silhouette: emoji. To take a comment or thread off the record, start with a :no_entry_sign: emoji.

Core migration issues:

0️⃣ Who is here today? What made you laugh in the last week?

Nick Dickinson Wilde Nick, he/him, T'So-uke lands/Victoria BC :flag-ca: I guess I'm here. What happened to the last week? I feel like last meeting was yesterday. Most of my laughs this week came from my kitten - although she is pushing into adult cat now. She just does the funnniest things
dinarcon Mauricio here
benjifisher Hi. I was hoping to get some answers that would cheer me up. (Kitten pics always help.) I cannot think of anything that made me laugh recently, but I did go for a bike ride (more than an hour) on Saturday and Sunday last weekend, and that feels good. (edited)
heddn Lucas here. I went on vacation w/ the family to the south in Rivas and had lots of fun and laughs.
damienmckenna Damien. This made me laugh and smile ear-to-ear the 100 times I played it this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xG09d3WcGo
quietone Vicki. Finding this update on the Al Baydha project cheered me up, https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=share&v=T39QHprz-x8&app=desktop
benjifisher Thanks. Al Baydha is inspiring. We can aspire to better than "less damaging to the ecology".

1️⃣ What should we talk about today? Suggest topics here and I will add threads.

damienmckenna Is anyone working on Ubercart-D7 migrations right meow? Have a client considering it and looking at ~150 hours of migration work to complete it and a few submodule, any other projects interested in tag-teaming on the work?
damienmckenna Forgot to mention the field plugin docs I started: https://www.drupal.org/docs/drupal-apis/migrate-api/migrate-field-plugins
damienmckenna Would appreciate some help expanding ^ with more details, I haven't written that much yet.
benjifisher I think that was mentioned under 4️⃣ (the thread on documentation).

2️⃣ Action items. To be added later.

benjifisher I think this will be pretty much the same as last week's list. :disappointed:
benjifisher NR: #3006750: Remove memory management from MigrateExecutable
benjifisher NW: #3134470: Switch to entity owner in EntityContentBase during validation
benjifisher NR: #3063856: Add ability to view migrate_message table data
benjifisher NR: #2925899: MigrateUpgradeImportBatch does not use source_private_file_path & source_base_path correctly, making it impossible to have public & private files in separate locations

3️⃣ Statistics

benjifisher Fixed: one issue since last week (not counting the issue for last week's meeting)
benjifisher RTBC:  Just two issues, both Normal priority, both last updated about a week ago.
benjifisher NR: We are up to 52 issues. Help wanted! There are 15 that have been waiting more than 2 months for a review. Most are Normal priority, but 3 are Major.
benjifisher If you are not confident about doing code review, there are still ways to help. Many issues need testing, issue summary updates, etc. We are happy to give advice on this channel if you run into something you do not know how to handle.

4️⃣ Documentation

benjifisher Shall we continue the discussion from last week? Is there anything that needs review, or approval from a Migrate maintainer?
dinarcon Damien has started this documentation page https://www.drupal.org/docs/drupal-apis/migrate-api/migrate-field-plugin... Although marked as incomplete, it is a good starting point.
benjifisher :+1:

5️⃣ Move memory management from MigrateExecutable to an event subscriber

benjifisher #3006750: Remove memory management from MigrateExecutable
benjifisher No progress since last week. (my bad)

6️⃣ Switch to entity owner in EntityContentBase during validation

benjifisher #3134470: Switch to entity owner in EntityContentBase during validation
benjifisher No progress since last week. :disappointed: Responding to the review in Comment 58 is almost a novice-level task.

7️⃣ Expose full set of debugging data in migrate_message table (filterable/searchable)

benjifisher #3063856: Add ability to view migrate_message table data
benjifisher Now NR, thanks to @quietone

8️⃣ MigrateUpgradeImportBatch does not use source_private_file_path & source_base_path correctly,

benjifisher #2925899: MigrateUpgradeImportBatch does not use source_private_file_path & source_base_path correctly, making it impossible to have public & private files in separate locations
benjifisher Still NR (my bad)
benjifisher According to the most recent comment from @quietone, she and @alexpott discussed this issue off-line. I previously marked the issue RTBC. I could respond in detail to the questions in @alexpott’s most recent comment. That will require some effort on my part. If those questions were already answered in the off-line discussion, then I do not want to work that hard.
benjifisher One part of that comment: The user knows the path to the files - often they've had to copy them over to the server. Concatenating the paths makes this way more complex than it needs to be.I completely agree, and that is why I added #3159217: Be more flexible in where files are staged for migration. In order to control scope, I want to keep the current issue focused on fixing the bug in the way the system currently works.

9️⃣ Ubercart-D7 migrations

damienmckenna There's one outstanding issue for fields on the content type not migrating correctly: #3044987: Ubercart 7 product field data not migrated
damienmckenna I identified another where fields on the Ubercart entity types, e.g. uc_order, are not migrated: #3165421: Migrate order and order product fields
benjifisher I have not done any work with Ubercart/Commerce. Unless I get a project at work (which is possible) it will not be a priority for me.
damienmckenna Plus there are Level 2 and Level 3 items from #2873182: [Meta] Ubercart 7 which haven't been started yet.
damienmckenna I have one client considering this for the next few months, is anyone else looking to work on it too?

1️⃣ 0️⃣ Add a migration source plugin for JSON:API

benjifisher #3150949: Add a migration source plugin for JSON:API
benjifisher This came up in a thread on this channel earlier today. People are already migrating from JSON:API sources (at least D8 sites with the JSON:API module enabled). Maybe someone can jump-start this issue by contributing some code.

1️⃣ 1️⃣ Wrap up

benjifisher Thanks for participating! I already updated 2️⃣ . Please continue to add comments. In 1-7 days, I will post a transcript for today's meeting.
dinarcon Thanks for facilitating Benji :raised_hands:
damienmckenna Thanks Benji!

Participants:
