In the directory view the first level terms show there descriptions, but the second level not.

Are you planing to show the node count in the collapsible fieldset of the terms or count by content type?
Also is it possible to show the term image inline with the collapsible fieldset instead of/or included in the expanded view?

Yes, that was a conscious choice, but I am considering an option. This feature was based on http://lasqueti.ca/marketplace/business, so I tried to make it like that.

I added a new setting "Show parent descriptions" for you. This will be in the -dev release that rolls up around Midnight GMT.
