I love your spirit, and innovative ideas.
Perhaps you should consider reviewing and committing other contributors' patches? So far you commit your own works. I understand you are trying to play safe, so no problems. However you are welcome, encouraged to be more "aggressive". I forgot the exact adjective for "taking the lead". You can start from things beyond shady areas, things which are more clear to you, perhaps?
No need to ask me for permissions. Just go committing once you are confident with it, like you did for your own works. It is already your project for quite a while.
Once I see you are being more involved in the project, you will have all the permissions, no questions.
